Ivy Bound ACT Holiday Intensive
The ACT is now the most sought-after test by students seeking admission to competitive colleges. Ivy Bound’s class helps propel students to excellence in all five sections: English, math, reading, science, and the essay. Students use workbooks from home to learn with an online teacher. We cover two sections each day and break every 45 to 65 minutes.
The Holiday intensive class runs on consecutive weekdays for two weeks. There is assigned home study which equates to about 2 hours between sessions. Thus, at roughly 5 hours per day, students should treat this as the “part-time job”. Following the two intensive weeks, Ivy Bound encourages students to take a practice test once or twice a week leading up to the target ACT.
Ivy Bound’s ACT teachers are hired for their clarity, enthusiasm, empathy, and high caliber test knowledge. All hold top 1% scores on the SAT or ACT, and are versatile with online delivery. As a firm, Ivy Bound is known for its students’ success. Ivy Bound’s ACT students report on average 13.6 section-point improvements. 20 to 28 section-point improvements (5 to 7 composite points) are very realistic for hard working students.
Ivy Bound’s class includes practice materials from both the ACT and Ivy Bound. Students are allowed to join Ivy Bound for proctored practice tests during the run of the class and beyond, up until shortly before the actual ACT date. Students may also join Ivy Bound’s Zoom reviews: group sessions when a tutor is able to address individual questions from home study or a practice test.
We hold Zoom reviews at 8:15pm Eastern every Tuesday for English and reading, and every Thursday for math and science.
With school schedules either shifting or unclear, your student may welcome a consistent late-holiday ONLINE class. We offer three more time blocks to get the work done before the upcoming test dates:
The general agenda for a 10 session class is:
Session 1 – Math and English
Session 2 – Math and Reading
Session 3 – Science and English
Session 4 – Math and Reading
Session 5 – Science and Essay
Session 6 – Math and English
Session 7 – Science and Half-Test
Session 8 – Math & Science and Verbal Strategy Review
Session 9 – Half-test and English
Session 10 – Math Strategy Review and English, Reading & Essay
A half-class, for students who only need math and science help, can be done by attending the first half of each day’s session. A half-class for students who only need English, reading, and essay help, can be done by attending the second half of every session.
Half-classes are set at a reduced price, and still allow students to take advantage of practice tests and Zoom reviews. Call Ivy Bound to enlist in the half-class of your choosing.
ACT classes run 26 to 30 hours and finish 1 to 2 weeks before a “Target” Test date. Online classes run with as few as two students, and there are multiple times available.
Ivy Bound offers students who have taken a prior ACT a 12 section-point guarantee, or 50% of tuition is returned.
This class and ones starting in the early holiday are still at a low rate too ($750, including materials). Late August and September classes are listed at $1150.
For Private tutoring…our ACT tutors all have earned 35s or 36s. They teach with clarity, empathy, enthusiasm, and high test knowledge. While there is a lot to cover, our tutors know what to pinpoint and what should have the most time spent on it.
The SAT covers a large amount of material that students learn in high school. However, it also includes questions, topics and skills not demanded by a high school curriculum. Because the SAT is still a highly published standard, it is also highly coachable. Students that study for the SAT can see an improvement on their scores. The only question is “how much?”
Ivy Bound also trains students to prepare for the big test day. Ivy Bound allows its drop-in students to join for a practice test on a subsequent day. Students can purchase a practice test package if they want to practice multiple times before their real test date.
Our SAT tutors are excellent test takers themselves, who know the ACT test inside and out. An SAT tutor is able to help you learn both the material that is on the test and the proper strategies for learning how to answer correctly. Tutoring sessions are generally split between learning how to read the SAT test and reviewing the material that students have to learn to be competent on the test.
The best part of working with a tutor is the individual attention to your progress. In full length courses, Ivy Bound tutors masterfully work with students; they learn their strengths and weaknesses and use that information to make relevant tutoring sessions. SAT tutors at Ivy Bound focus on several strategies to help students, including time management, investigation, and sorting. When working with an Ivy Bound tutor in full-length courses, we expect our students to become confident and have the skills to get the score they desire.
