Ivy Bound AP Calculus AB
Calculus is the mathematical study of continuous change, in the same way that geometry is the study of shape and algebra is the study of generalizations of arithmetic operations.
It has two major branches, differential calculus and integral calculus; the former concerns instantaneous rates of change, and the slopes of curves, while integral calculus concerns accumulation of quantities, and areas under or between curves. These two branches are related to each other by the fundamental theorem of calculus, and they make use of the fundamental notions of convergence of infinite sequences and infinite series to a well-defined limit.
Calculus typically starts in high school for most students. Most will really dive into the subject in 11th or 12th grade. If your student is having difficulty in high school level calculus courses, or wants to prepare for college level courses, Ivy Bound tutors can help. At the high school level, there are two types of calculus that are offered, Calculus AB and Calculus BC. We help students of all levels and do our best to prepare them for whatever tests or courses they have in mind.
Ivy Bound tutors are prepared to help educate students for whatever sect of calculus they need assistance with. Our tutors are well equipped to teach online and are at the top of their field. The typical standardized exams that include calculus are:
- AP Calculus – AP (Advanced Placement) classes are given to high school students. These tests are opportunities to test out of entry-level college classes and earn credits for potential colleges. Many high schoolers have the opportunity to take AP classes at their school in two different forms.
- AP Calculus AB – AP Calculus usually allows students to test out of a basic college class. The main ideas covered in Calculus AB are the techniques related to derivatives, definite integrals, and the Fundamental Theorem.
- AP Calculus BC – The AP Calculus BC test covers a larger scope of the calculus curriculum. It includes polar, vector and parametric functions.
Students of all levels can benefit from calculus tutoring. Whether they need a bit of help in understanding their school work or they want help preparing for a cumulative end-of-the-year exam, Ivy Bound is here for you. A calculus tutor can give you the chance to slow down and really focus on learning the material step by step. One-on-one calculus tutoring means that you can work at your own pace, every session. There is no need to feel embarrassed if you have to ask a question or if you need to review a concept again.
