Description
Ivy Bound – Painting!
This is Ivy Bound’s first class meant for ages 6 to 9. Our tutors facilitate children painting creatively. The goal of the class is to start children working with art with the help of a teacher or parent and then gradually move them to working independently.
Each session is meant to break into a new realm of art. Adding colors, adopting a technique, conforming to reality, and giving a message are the skills we focus on. Reaching a new level of independence is the main goal.
Every two sessions, the child’s work is “evaluated”. Online participants participate in an online art show and n-person participants do a live “showing” to other classmates.
Schedule:
Session 1: Anticipating, Brainstorming, and Painting Tools. Getting Started!
Session 2: Neatness, allowed messiness. First complete painting.
Session 3: Reality painting – Outdoor Landscape
Session 4: Reality painting – People. Mixing colors.
Session 5: Non-Reality – free form painting
Session 6: Message painting (building child confidence).
Session 7: Completion painting – students embellish prior work.
Session 8: Start-from scratch, complete, and exhibition
During each session, the coach will introduce a technique and reinforce something learned in an earlier class. Following sessions 2, 4, 6, and 8 the student has a chance to say or write what the paining is meant to convey.
Each class is 75 minutes. Private and group sessions can be arranged for longer or shorter times. The first five to ten minutes involve the instructor and the parents. They set goals, and assure materials and the setting are in order.
Clean-up is 5 to 10 minutes. This is meant to enforce tidiness, organization, hand washing, and respect for a work space.
Parents are to purchase 6 or more brushes, paints, and sturdy paper. Brushes should run thin to medium (up to ½ inch). A palette is a nice touch and is introduced in session 4, but is not necessary. A large drop-cloth for work is recommended unless the home already has a studio that can get permanently splotched. Clothing should be comfortable and ready for possible paint spillage.
Pricing:
Price for the 8 sessions – $125
Second child add $40 to total price
If the same child joins in a subsequent month, the charge is $60.
