About me

Cindy has over two years of experience as a tutor and teacher. A rising senior at the Loomis Chaffee School in Windsor, CT, she has served as a Writing Studio consultant, helping students brainstorm ideas, complete drafts, and polish essays. Currently, Cindy also hosts weekly vocabulary classes for an educational nonprofit that she co-founded, thoroughly preparing weekly handouts, lesson slides, and classroom games and activities before each lesson. From her teaching experiences, Cindy has become proficient at effectively managing both larger and smaller groups, either online or in-person, all while maximizing student engagement in the classroom. While she dedicates herself to enhancing her expertise as a teacher, Cindy is also passionate about learning. She has taken 7 college-level courses and is enrolled in 5 more this year. She has conducted research as an assistant under several professors and published articles detailing her findings. At school, Cindy serves as Class Officer and editor-in-chief of the newspaper, and she participates in debate, MUN, and theater. In her free time, Cindy enjoys writing short stories, playing the piano, and experimenting with new coding projects.

Experience:

Although I primarily work with middle schoolers and elementary school students, I've taught a diverse range of students, from kindergarteners to high schoolers and beyond. During the past two years, I spent 5+ hours a week at local schools and after-school programs, tutoring students of various ages in numerous subjects, including English/ELA, Algebra 2, elementary math, etc. I've also worked with students with special needs, including autism and ADHD. Throughout my tutoring career, I've encountered learners who can comprehend new topics and concepts readily as well as those who need more incentive and assistance to attain mastery. As such, I can adapt with flexibility to each student's learning style and personality, and I'm able to apply appropriate methods of motivation on an individual basis.
