About me
Jared recently graduated from The University of Chicago with a B.S. in Biological Chemistry with honors and a B.A. in Chemistry, magna cum laude. While at school, he worked with the university to provide drop-in organic chemistry tutoring to undergraduates and served as a private math and Latin tutor for middle and high schoolers. At the same time, Jared was pioneering a new method to measure the rate of cell migration in large wounds using jellyfish as model organisms. For his work on this subject, he was awarded honors in Biological Chemistry and named a University of Chicago Genetics and Genomics Scholar.
Now back in his native New York City, Jared is working with Ivy Bound to provide math, chemistry, and biology tutoring to middle and high school students. Jared’s approach is centered in engendering a deep understanding of the subject matter; once a student feels confident in the core of a subject, it’s always that much less effort to apply it. Moreover, although studying is hard, it should also feel rewarding. That’s why Jared is always sure to connect whatever he and his students are working on with that student’s interests and ambitions. Connections between fields often pop out in unexpected places, and there’s always time to explore them when they help provide a deeper understanding of the subject matter.
In his free time, Jared likes to cook, play board games, and read. His current favorite authors are Ursula Leguin and Brandon Sanderson, and he’s probably listening to The Stormlight Archive on audiobook as you read this.

Hobbies
Jared likes to read, cook, bike, and work on engineering and programming projects in his spare time. He's currently designing a candy dispenser that helps students focus on their work!
