What To Do After a Cancelled SAT

During winter and early spring in New England, an SAT date may be cancelled due to weather. Parents and students who might be fretful about a cancelled SAT should know there is no downside to a test that’s rescheduled! Our founder, Mark Greenstein, explains how this can actually be beneficial for students.

Students Have More Time

First off, colleges do not care when you take the test. The most important factor to admissions counselors is score. When a test date is cancelled, students have more time to prepare. With a few extra weeks to perfect your knowledge and build on skills, you are more likely to get a fantastic score. Maybe you did not have time to complete the recommended number of practice tests; now is your chance!

Students worried that they will not see their SAT score before their next testing date should take the next SAT anyway! About 95 percent of colleges superscore, which gives you the benefit of averaging two scores.

Get Motivated!

We never want students facing a cancelled test to say “they’ve got it in for me, I can’t possibly do well”. You can do equally well or better by gaining more skills and confidence over time. Do not be concerned with a later date when you’re going to be applying down the road.
